    flue gas dampers

HELPS SAVE ENERGY AND PREVENTS THE INFLOW OF EXHAUST GASES

Flue gas flaps are installed in the connecting line between the boiler and chimney and close the flue gas path to the chimney when it is no longer needed.

This prevents the heat generator and the installation room from cooling down and contributes significantly to energy savings. In addition, for example in cascade systems, they also prevent a possible flow of exhaust gases from other fireplaces connected to the chimney into the installation room and provide a certain level of sound insulation in multi-occupied chimneys.

We offer you both manually lockable flue gas flaps and flue gas flaps with electric servomotors that are automatically controlled by the burner.

A special case are implosion flaps (Joukowski flaps) or explosion flaps (pressure relief flaps), which compensate for unwanted pressure fluctuations in the exhaust pipe.

    Type M

    Oil or Coal - Residential

The M control lends itself ideally to conditions requiring a great deal of stability and accuracy. Designed for settings from .01” to .1”, the Field M Control is recommended for oil or coal-fired residential heating applications. The Type M features an infinitely variable screw adjustment, permitting an extremely fine instrument setting. The M employs side wings to control air direction with gate curvatures designed to compensate for differences in horizontal and vertical settings.

    Type MG-1

    Gas

A double-acting control for gas-fired furnaces and boilers is widely used for conversion burner installations, gas draft-induced appliance operation with mechanical draft inducers, or sidewall power venters. lt is also recommended for use on gas atmospheric appliances where a draft hood cannot be installed, and can improve combustion stability and draft on many gas atmospheric installations with venting problems.

The MG-1 provides precise, accurate control of drafts at levels higher than permitted by a standard draft diverter, which is a frequent requirement with gas. Because it is double-acting, it opens out to relieve positive vent system pressures as low as .01". Draft adjustments using weights are simple and accurate from .01” to .1”.

    Type MG-2

    Solid, Oil or Gas Commercial/Industrial

This is a series of compact, rugged, heavy-duty controls for use on large residential, commercial, and industrial applications. The Field Type M+MG2 Draft Control provides precise draft regulations for solid fuels, oil, gas, or oil/gas appliances requiring only the simplest, on-the job adjustments depending on which fuel is to be utilized. In a gas installation, the double-acting Type M+MG2 is specified instead of a draft hood to give the appliance the assistance of the chimney. In a duel fuel oil/gas or a gas-fired only application, use the M+MG2 as a double-acting draft control with the optional Field Thermal Switch accessory.

Use the M+MG2 as a single-acting draft control for oil or solid fuel applications. For any installation with 10" or larger diameter smoke pipe, specify our standard M+MG2 Draft Control, the unit that can be adapted to any fuel. The moving part (gate) rests on a long, thin, stainless steel knife edge which, in turn, is supported by selfaligning and self-cleaning bearings. When the heavy gauge gate moves, only the knife edge rests on the bearing for minimum friction and maximum sensitivity to draft changes.

    Relief valves

    Implosion Relief Valves

    IPR:

Relief of negative pressure operation in order to assure no flue gases can escape during standard operation.
For use in engine exhaust, heating appliances, and other fuel fired equipment.

During normal operation the spring keeps the cover plate closed, if the combustion air damper is closed at the burner due to a blackout, the chimney cannot draw in air through the boiler. The "missing" air now returns through the implosion damper. This prevents the so-called Joukowsky shock by immediately opening the cover plate. Example, if the flue gases are cut off from the chimney during a sudden appliance shutdown, the negative pressure in the chimney may contract (warp) the connecting breeching.

Connection: Flange or factory welded onto a fitting. May be installed vertically or horizontally.

    PRESSURE RELIEFE VALVE

    PRV:

Relief and monitoring of excessive pressure (backfire or delayed ignition of unburnt fuel) in engine exhaust, heating appliances, and other fuel fired equipment.

The spring loaded plate keeps seal tight until pressure forces plate open.

Connection System: 125/150 Lb. flange pattern.

    PRVF

    FLAME RETARDANT PRESSURE RELIEFE VALVE

    PRVF:

Relief and monitoring of excessive pressure (backfire or delayed ignition of unburnt fuel) in engine exhaust, heating appliances, and other fuel fired equipment.
The spring loaded plate keeps seal tight until pressure forces plate open. A built-in switch alerts maintenance or plant personnel that a
    backfire has occurred.

Connection System: 125/150 Lb. flange pattern.

A special material in packed area retards flames from protruding outwards.

PRESSURE RELIEFE VALVE WITH ROLLED FLANGE

    PRVR:

Relief and monitoring of excessive pressure (backfire or delayed ignition of unburnt fuel) in engine exhaust, heating appliances, and other fuel fired equipment.
The spring loaded plate keeps seal tight until pressure forces plate open.

    Connection System: 1/2" rolled flange.

    VBD Damper

Modulating and On/Off Vent Damper System

The VBD Vent Damper System consists of a single blade damper. It can be used as an on/off damper to prevent airflow though the appliance in an off cycle as well as to maintain a constant negative or positive pressure in the vent exhaust connector.

    Main features

    • All-stainless steel construction.
    • Heavy duty design.
    • Disc is metallic tight to outer casing.
    • Overload protected motor.
    • Automatic stop.

    Applications

    • Motor actuated on/off and modulating gas vent damper for gas vents serving gas or liquid burning appliances such as Category I, II, III & IV appliances or Building Heating Appliances.
    • Essential for common venting Condensing or Category II/IV Appliances – will not allow any possibility of flue gas recirculation and to maintain constant exhaust pressure for each appliance at all times.
    • Reduction of cycle venting losses through boilers and draft hoods.

    Construction:

    • 20 Gauge 316L stainless steel housing and blade
    • ½” graphite sealed bearings
